Divine Feminine - Birthing of Unity- Myrtle Fillmore

Su Podraza-Nagle, LUT

It states in Genesis 1 :27- So God created humankind in his image,
    in the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them.
From the Revealing Word:  Divine Motherhood- The nourishing element of Divine Mind, or God, in which spiritual ideals are brought to fruition.
Happy Mother’s Day to all of us who have expressed their loving, nurturing side of their soul to those around them!
Good Morning!  Mom’s this is your day!!!  Your very own special day!
Created officially 1908, when Anna Jarvis held a memorial for her mother at St Andrew's Methodist Church in Grafton, West Virginia.
Think of it, the day starts with mom’s being able to sleep in, and wake up when their exhausted bodies were ready to wake up instead of listening to the alarm clock.
Breakfast in bed, lovingly prepared by their children and/ or partner in life.
A beautiful bouquet of flowers, perhaps and gift or two and a day filled with leisure and laughter.
Sound familiar? No? Maybe?
How many of us remember those moments when we, as children honored our mom’s on Mother’s Day with truly, Divinely Inspired moments? Specially crafted breakfasts, pictures, macaroni necklaces, flowers picked from mom’s flower bed?  Mom won’t know, will she?
Mothers are a force of love, a heart so big, kisses so powerful (the pain from boo boos really did go away) and the original “Handy Wipe” in action, (formerly called mom spit) God in action.
Remember, MOM’s  are created in the image and likeness.
Lest you forget, how many of us shuttered when we heard our first, middle, and last name called? Typically through gritted teeth…..
Yes, Divine Love in action. Whether we realized it at the time or not.

Here’s another example of a Mother’s Day:
A mother wakes up, heart pounding because there is a smell of something burning in the kitchen. Smells like food.
The mom needs to find out if an extinguisher is needed so, they high tail it to the kitchen and peek in to see a child diligently buttering “blackened” toast. Looks like cheerios and milk (LOTS of it) and coffee. (the mom thinks. ”Oh please bring the coffee first”)
Without being seen, the mom races back up to bed, ok maybe not so fast, they haven’t had that coffee yet, and crawl back into bed and pretend to be asleep.
Soon the sound of shuffling feet can be heard and the mom prays the coffee and cheerios make it without abandoning ship and landing on the floor.
The precious child arrives and whispers, “Mom, mom?” And then in a voice that could wake the dead, “MOM!”
The Mom giggles inside, feigns sleepiness, acts surprised and welcomes a small tray of, cold coffee, soggy cheerios, some of which are trying to make their way off the tray and gourmet “blackened” toast. The child leaves and returns with one wilting, tiny dandelion in a cup and a hand-made apron which she made in school. (now the mom knows why she needed and old pillow case.)
Does this sound more realistic??
It was a wonderful Divinely Inspired morning and I helped my daughter clean up the kitchen afterward.

I often wondered, while studying the Unity movement, how the Fillmore children
Celebrated their mother, Myrtle Fillmore since Lowell, (1882) Rickert (1884) and Royal (1889) were born way before 1904.
I can only imagine, 3 boys, and the joy every day that they would bring into their mothers’ life around the Unity Farm as it was called in those days. Now Unity Village.
Myrtle Fillmore, As the Daily Word today states:  “the mother of Unity. Myrtle wrote, “It is my great joy to perceive somewhat of the mother side of God—the divine love that never fails.”
How did she express that divine love that never fails?
She loved herself first. We all know the story of her healing. She heard this quote from E.B. Weeks at a lecture, ………“I am a child of God and therefore I do not inherit sickness.”
To the very center of her being she believed. Truth in action. And in time, Truth in expression manifested and she was healed.
She expressed divine creative expression when she nurtured others with her article, “How I Found Health” first published in the magazine, Modern Thought in 1889. We today know it as Unity Magazine.
In the years that followed, she affirmed the well being of others through prayer.
Friends and strangers would write letters and in turn, she would affirm and pray with them.
She and her husband, Charles, dedicated their lives to the Society of Silent Unity. Now called Silent Unity.
How many here have called them, wrote to them or used their phone app? 24/7 365. They are ready to pray.
Myrtle also expressed her “divine love that never fails” by showing us how to affirm Truth and Hand any situation over to God, Divine Mind in a letter she wrote to someone in need:
“Sometimes I have written a letter to God when I have wanted to be sure that something would have divine consideration and love and attention. I have written the letter, and laid it away, in the assurance that the eyes of the loving and all-wise Father were seeing my letter and knowing my heart and working to find ways to bless me and help me grow. So I suggest that you write a letter to God, telling, putting into words, that which your heart holds and hopes for. Have faith that God is seeing your letter and your heart, and that there is wisdom and power and freedom and love to accomplish that which will meet your needs. After you have placed your heart’s desires with God, don’t be anxious or worried, or negative. Don’t even be looking for signs that He has responded. Just busy yourself with the work He gives, and with study and prayer to develop yourself into a real companion and a real radiator of happiness and inspiration. As you do so you become the radiating center toward which those are drawn who will add to your happiness and co-operate with you in making of your life a beautiful success. Spirit intends you to be a radiating center that will draw to you whatsoever you need to be well and strong, successful and prosperous.”…..From Myrtle Fillmore’s Healing Letters, p.28.
All these wonderful moments, this sweet blessing we now call Unity today.
Started by an affirmation. Heard at a lecture.
Through her, we have been loved, nurtured, and shown how to express our divine love through Unity.
Today, we celebrate all mother’s.  After All, without them, where would we be?
Next week, I’ll provide some metaphysical insight to mother’s and the other women  in the Bible.
Namaste~
